A Spring evening in Central Park is stunning–blooms everywhere, soft sunlight, and the perfect place to celebrate an engagement. I met Tyler and Aazrin at the Ladies Pavilion on the westside to begin their photography session. Walking through Central Park we stopped at the Oak Bridge, scenic spots throughout the Ramble, Bow Bridge, Bethesda Fountain and Terrace and along the Mall.

The couple shares, “Central Park is one of our favorite places in the city. We love to explore new areas, listen to the performers, read the bench dedications, and discover hidden gems. It felt like the perfect reflection of our relationship: a mix of city and nature, calm but vibrant, a place where you can be whoever you want. We hope to have our own bench dedication someday!”

Tyler shares, “We met in 2024 when we were both medical students attending a radiology conference in Salt Lake City. We actually first met at a food truck outside of a bar, which still makes us laugh. My first impression of Aazrin was surreal, and I still haven’t found the right words to describe the feeling, but it honestly felt like I had met my soulmate. She was magnetic, radiant, and so full of life and joy that I knew I had to get to know her more. I went over to say hello and the rest is history.”

Aazrin continues, “For some context, I was living in DC and Tyler lived in Denver when we first met. He came over to say hello that night outside the bar, we exchanged some pleasantries, and I famously said “Have fun with your friends!” before our friend groups separated. If you had told me at that moment that I had met my future husband, I probably would have laughed, but looking back now it feels like it was always meant to happen. During the next few days at the conference, I realized I kept looking around for that man from the food truck. (Little did I know he was looking for me too!) He ended up coming to all of my presentations, and we spent time together up until the very moment I had to leave for the airport. Very quickly we were texting constantly and I knew I had to see him again!

After the conference, it was clear we were both only thinking about each other. Just a few weeks later, Tyler flew out to visit me in DC as our first “date”, which ended up being 4 whirlwind days together.

Immediately, we were inseparable. Our first night together I just remember us laughing on the couch until our faces hurt. I took him to my favorite spots and restaurants around the city, including Oyamel where Tyler bravely tried cricket tacos, and Ilili where we shared the most incredible lamb meatballs in a cherry sauce. That dinner was so special we ended up going back to celebrate our engagement!”

Tyler shares, “Deep down, a part of me knew immediately that Aazrin was perfect for me, and this feeling has only crystallized with more time and adventures together. We were long distance for our first year together, easily logging thousands of hours on FaceTime just doing mundane tasks side by side. I could spend every minute of every day forever with her and never get tired of it. She is truly the most wonderful woman ever, and I am endlessly proud of her.”

Aazrin shares, “I’m a very cautious person by nature, so for me it wasn’t an immediate realization. Despite that, I found myself wanting to spend every moment with Tyler from the get go. I truly knew he was the one a few months in, while I was doing away rotations prior to applying to residency. It was a very stressful and lonely time for me, but through it all, Tyler always knew exactly what I needed and was there at every moment despite the distance. He has an incredible way of making the people he loves feel safe and cared for, that’s simply who he is. In those moments, anything felt possible as long as I had Tyler by my side, and in the time since this feeling has only continued to grow.”

The proposal was perfect. Tyler shares, “Aazrin had just two requests for the proposal: for it to be intimate and a surprise. Anyone who knows Aazrin knows that surprising her is nearly impossible. She is way too smart, and naturally had predicted all of my extravagant plans and ideas. One Thursday evening after work, we were sitting in our room, talking and unwinding the way we did every night. I looked over at her and suddenly it felt like the first time we met, and I felt so full of love that I couldn’t wait any longer. Our home is the place we had worked so hard to build together and where we have shared so many happy memories. It felt like the most meaningful place to begin our lives together. So on March 26, 2026, I asked Aazrin to marry me in our bedroom and it was the most perfect moment.

Aazrin adds, “The way Tyler proposed is the most special memory of my entire life. I was in my pajamas, hair braided, skincare done, retainers in, fully ready for bed. Tyler looked at me in my rawest, most unfiltered form and saw his wife. How could I not feel like the luckiest woman in the world after that?

Afterward, we put on “Lover” by Taylor Swift and slow-danced around the bedroom in our pajamas. We laughed, cried, and just soaked in the moment together. It wasn’t elaborate or extravagant but it was perfectly us.

One of my favorite parts of the proposal was showing up to work the following  morning and seeing all the absolutely shocked reactions from my coworkers. We also FaceTimed our closest friends and family with the surprise and have a wonderfully hilarious compilation of their reactions, which will be special to us forever.

We celebrated with a nice dinner at Ilili in NoMad as an homage to our first few days together. The lamb meatballs in cherry sauce taste even better as fiances!”

Tyler and Aazrin are still in the very beginning stages of planning their wedding, but hope to have an intimate celebtraion with family and friends.

Tyler shares, “Aazrin is the funniest, most clever person I know. She’s quick and witty, deeply thoughtful, and just bitingly smart. She is also an incredible communicator and the kind of person who sticks to what she believes in. And her smile will light me up until the end of time.”

Aazrin shares, “What I love most about Tyler is how caring he is, not just for other people but for life as a whole. He is so passionate about everything he pursues and I love watching him get engrossed in a new skill or hobby. I love how he wears his emotions on his sleeve, which makes him so genuine and open. And the way his eyes crinkle when he laughs… I could melt just thinking about it.”

Congratulations Aazrin and Tyler!
