Chelsey and Justin are such a sweet couple. We had a great time enjoying Denver Botanic Gardens and celebrating their engagement.

Chelsey shares, “We met at a friend’s BBQ over Memorial Day weekend. Justin apparently asked our friend Jenna, “Where are all your honey’s at?” and she told him, “You already know all my friends.” Then I walked in and played Skizzy Mars, and Justin immediately said, “Wait… who is THAT? How have I never met her before?” and the rest was history. 

Justin adds “Our first date was at Machete in Cherry Creek. I thought things went well, I don’t think she felt the same way. I remember being a little nervous, nervous enough to fill my own water but not hers. Not a good start. What I remember the most is her being an awful hugger! Which we still joke about today.

It didn’t take long to know that she was the one. It wasn’t a particular moment, but more so a feeling. She was so fun to be around, and we had so much in common. I still played hard to get at first because I knew that she’d be my girlfriend and eventually my wife.”

 

Justin proposed on Christmas Day 2025 on their way up to Blackhawk. He shares, “We used to go up there every year with her Dad so I knew it would be special. I drove up there the week before to scout a space to do it and found a bridge that would be perfect. I wasn’t sure how to get her on that bridge without making it so obvious, so I made up a story that a lot of people go to this bridge to throw coins into the river for good luck on their way to the Casino. Worked like a charm, she was all about it!

Chelsey adds, “I had no idea it was coming. On the drive up he told me we had to stop at this bridge because apparently everyone throws a coin over it for good luck before going to the casino. I found a lucky quarter in his center console and walked onto the bridge, and he told me to close my eyes and really envision winning big. So there I was with my eyes closed thinking about absolutely crushing it at the craps table, and the next thing I know he’s down on one knee proposing. Both of us won on the craps table that night so I’m convinced the bridge really is lucky.”

 

I asked the couple what they love most about each other. Chelsey shares, “Justin is patient, kind, smart, and very handsome. I love when he sings Chelsea Cutler songs to me, he can really hit those high notes! He’s the kind of person who always tries to make my life easier and supports me no matter what. I’m so excited for this next chapter together!”

Justin shares, “I love her energy, her laugh, her intelligence, her very old jokes, and her newfound love for golf. She’s the most beautiful woman in the world.”

The couple is getting married on September 6th at Villa Monastero on Lake Como, Italy. Chelsey shares, “I’m so excited to wear my wedding dress, for our first dance, and all the amazing memories we’re going to make.”
